Tucked away in the forest on the edge of Cradle Mountain National Park are 16 private and unique timber cabins in a secluded wilderness environment. The mountain cabins at Cradle Mountain Highlanders Cottages are secluded, fully self-contained, self catering and private. With wildlife at your doorstep, spectacular alpine scenery all around and a rustic mountain cabin to call home, you will really feel at one with nature when you make Cradle Mountain Highlanders your base for exploring the World Heritage listed Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park. The various cabins are ideal for a family or group holiday, romantic couples’ accommodation, honeymoons or to escape and relax on a short break.
Cradle Mountain Highlanders Cottages accommodation is set on ten acres of natural Australian bushland, 200 metres from the National Park's Cradle Information Centre and shuttle bus terminal. There are sixteen self-contained wilderness cabins nestled in temperate rainforest on the 10 acre property which enjoys a stunning view of Cradle Mountain. Cradle Mountain Highlanders is two minutes drive from the entrance to Cradle Mountain National Park and 200 metres from the Cradle Information Centre and Shuttle Bus Terminal.

Natural timber glows and gleams inside the well-appointed wilderness cabins of Cradle Mountain Highlanders. All wilderness cabins have fully equipped kitchens, private decks or verandahs, television, clock radio, electric blankets, hair dryers and pure Tasmanian mountain water on tap. Eight of the wilderness cabins have romantic log fires and two have spa baths. Portable barbeques can be set up on your deck or verandah and there is a guest laundry. Continental breakfast baskets are available and there are restaurants within two kilometres of our self-contained wilderness mountain cabins.

How to find us

Quickest routes to Cradle Mountain : Devonport via Sheffield 1.25 hours Burnie via B18& 132 highways 1.5 hours Launceston via A1 highway & Sheffield 2 hours Launceston via A1 highway & Mole Creek 2.5 hours Hobart via Launceston & Sheffield 4.5 hours Hobart via Queenstown 6 hours The above routes are mainly on arterial highways. If you have the time, Tasmania has lots of interesting little towns which have now been by-passed by these highways. The entrance to Cradle Mountain Highlanders is 1.5 km before the entrance to Cradle Mountain National Park on the 132 highway. The cottages cannot be seen from the roadside; only a hand carved sign saying ‘HIGHLANDERS’ is situated on the right hand side of the road just past Cradle Information Centre (Shuttle bus transit terminal) and cafe bistro which is on your left. Drive up the laneway and you will find reception.

Booking Options

Your booking is a non-refundable purchase and is for a specific time and date. Changes to the date and / or time of your reservation will only be considered if received seven days before the confirmed tour. You will only be accommodated at an available time and date.

We require you to check into reception 15 minutes before your confirmed booking time.

You are required to wear enclosed and comfortable sport or hiking shoes. During the cooler winter months you must wear warm clothing and bring a weather-proof jacket with you.

Safety requirements dictate that we do not allow the carrying of any personal items that can be dropped or lost during the tour including jewellery cameras mobile phones keys or any other loose object. Hollybank Treetops Adventure will provide you with a secure locker in which to leave your valuables. You can wear spectacles or sunglasses on the adventure we will supply you with a suitable lanyard to secure them.

Hollybank Treetops Adventures operates in all weather conditions and tours will only be cancelled in extreme weather conditions such as lighting storms and high winds. Hollybank Treetops Adventures will postpone tours at our own discretion and will offer an alternative departure date at a time of your choice.

Proof of age such as a passport or school identification card will be requested for all children when checking in for the tour. There must be one parent or adult guardian accompanying children under 13 years of age.

You will be required to sign a waiver before commencement of the tour.

People with a medical condition can participate if they are able to undertake moderate physical activity for the approximately 3 hours’ duration of the adventure.
Individuals who suffer from any:
• heart condition;
• visual impairment (except those wearing prescription eyewear);
• hearing impairment;
• vertigo fear of heights dizziness;
• pregnancy;
• respiratory; or
• missing limbs should take advice from their medical professional.
We reserve the right to decline your participation in the tour if we believe you would be unable to carry out all the required drills to enjoy a safe and exhilarating tour.
If required you will be able to bring medication on the tour with you.
