The festive season is quickly approaching. Devonport has a rich and busy Christmas calendar ready to be enjoyed. So, what are you waiting for? Get festive and treat your ‘elf’!
The season starts with the Christmas Kid Disco on Friday, 3 December at Fairy Tales and Pirate Sails. Also in East Devonport is Santa in the East on Saturday, 4 December. The first weekend in December is then rounded out by Carols by Candlelight on Sunday, 5 December at the Devonport City Soccer Club.
Feeling altruistic after volunteering? Let Councillors make you breakfast at the Community Volunteer Breakfast on Monday, 6 December. If you’re keen to do pet Christmas photos, you can take your felines and canines to Pet Photos at the Animal Hospital or Santa photos at Petbarn.
For the kids, the Santa Train is back at Don River Railway on Sunday, 19 December. There is also a Devonport-specific Christmas colouring in competition, so get your entries in before 19 December! Rooke St Mall gets Christmassy on Friday, 10 December, from midday to 4pm, with a disco dome and face painting, so don’t miss Festive Friday in the Mall.
Breakfast in the Park and Spreyton Cider Outdoor Music share the task of celebrating Christmas Eve on 24 December.
Markets more your style? No worries. Get to a Christmas Twilight Market at Providore place on Friday, 10 or 17 December, or venture out to Don Market on Sunday, 12 and the Twilight one on Wednesday, 22 December.
Finally, NYE brings international celebrations at Providore Place between 3pm and 8pm. Travel the world without leaving Devonport and bring in the New Year at this event for all ages. SeaRoad has sponsored a fireworks display from Aikenhead point at 9:30pm. Watch from home or a place around the city and watch the sky light up as 2021 departs.
